Ken Climo is widely regarded as the greatest disc golfer of all time. After transitioning from traditional golf to disc golf in the late 1980s, his rise was swift and historic. Between 1990 and 1998, Climo captured nine consecutive PDGA World Championship titles in the Open Division, a streak unmatched in the sport, and ultimately finished his Open career with twelve World Championships. His sustained excellence redefined what was possible at the highest level of competition and earned him the enduring nickname “The Champ.”
In addition to his World titles, Climo won five United States Disc Golf Championships and was named PDGA Male Player of the Year multiple times during his competitive prime. His dominance spanned more than a decade and set competitive standards that shaped generations of players. Inducted into the Disc Golf Hall of Fame in 1995 while still active, his influence was already undeniable long before his competitive career concluded.
Climo’s success continued into the Masters divisions, where he added three Masters World Championship titles, further underscoring his longevity and adaptability. In recent years, his legacy has entered a new chapter through the launch of Climo Disc Golf in partnership with Discraft, bringing his name and vision into a new era of equipment and design. As a member of the GRIPeq Legends Team, Ken Climo represents the foundation of professional disc golf and the benchmark against which all greatness in the sport is measured.
