Team GRIPeq: 2024 United States Women’s Disc Golf Championships

Home Team GRIPeq: 2024 United States Women’s Disc Golf Championships

This year, a total of 347 women from 21 different divisions competed in the US Women’s Disc Golf Championship (USWDGC) held in the Austin, Texas area. Team GRIPeq had 14 players in the field, with four of those divisions represented. Find out below how the team competed.

Team GRIPeq: FPO

Big MAJOR Missy earned her first Major win at USWDGC! Missy Gannon started the tournament ready to play with a hot round of -7, unofficially rated 1032. She continues to prove that her skills are unstoppable in the woods with a 65% scramble rate even with the tough fairways and trees at Sprinkle Valley. Missy ended the event at -12 and had an official 1004 event rating, marking the fourth time an FPO competitor won with over a +1000 event rating this year. Her hard work has certainly paid off; we can’t wait to see what else she can accomplish this year!

Team GRIPeq pro Evelinna Salonen was chasing Missy down during the final round and held on to her second-place finish with -7. Eveliina had the best strokes gained tee to green out of the entire FPO division, and it is still showing us that her game off the tee is a dangerous weapon to the rest of the field. Eveliina hasn’t finished outside the top eight all year through this event.

Team GRIPeq: FP40, FA2, FJ15

Women’s participation in disc golf was celebrated with enthusiasm all weekend long. Four Team GRIPeq competitors participated outside of the FPO category. Jennifer Allen competed in the FP40 category and finished her event with a score of +16, which was three strokes behind the lead and eleven strokes ahead of third place. Jenny Umstead also participated in FP40 and secured 7th place out of 27, finishing with a score of +42.

Texas native Kelsie Sweeten was also in attendance, competing in FA2. She held the lead at parts of the tournament and ended up with an impressive solo third-place finish out of 39 women.

Last but not least, strong MJ Gager competed in FJ15 and participated in the United States Women’s Disc Golf Championship press conference! MJ worked hard out there and ended up placing 6th out of 10.
