Väinö Mäkelä, born on September 20, 1998, in Laukaa, Finland, is a professional disc golfer renowned for his achievements both in Europe and internationally. He began his disc golf journey in 2010 and has since amassed numerous accolades, including the Finnish Championship title in 2021 and four consecutive Prodigy Disc Pro Tour overall victories from 2018 to 2021. Väinö has also represented Finland on the European stage, securing a bronze medal in the Open division at the 2018 European Championships and a gold medal in the Junior division in 2016.

In June 2024, Väinö signed a three-year contract with Innova Champion Discs, marking a significant transition in his professional career. As of November 2024, he holds a PDGA rating of 1027, reflecting his consistent high-level performance. Beyond his competitive endeavors, Väinö engages with the disc golf community through his YouTube channel, where he shares content related to the sport.
