A lightning delay, rain, and a new layout at Harvey Penick doesn’t stop Team GRIPeq! Hear how records were broken by our pros at the second Texas event of the 2024 DGPT season.
Team GRIPeq: FPO
What a weekend for record-breaking excitement! Congratulations to our very own Team GRIPeq pro, Ohn Scoggins, for taking down the win at The Open at Austin, winning with ten strokes to spare! She also broke the record for the best-rated tournament average of any FPO player, with an unofficial 1029 event average. Her consistency on the course was top-notch, with the highest parked percentage stat in the field, parking 24% of her tee shots. And if she wasn’t parked, she was putting 39% from C2. What a way to show dominance in the field with such a stellar performance all weekend, finishing her event at -26.
Missy Gannon earned a solo third-place finish, attacking the Harvey Penick FPO layout with the best scramble rate of the field at 58%. She would go on to finish the tournament at -10. One more record was broken with our Team GRIPeq FPO pros; Ali Smith earned her first 1000-rated round of her career! She also earned a top-10 spot this weekend, finishing T9.
Team GRIPeq: MPO
From the third card on the final day, Kyle Klein was putting in the work and finished his round preparing for a possible playoff for the win. However, Niklas Antilla would finish one stroke ahead of Klein to secure the lead. Kyle scored -26 with a solid solo second-place finish. We also saw Anthony Barela tie for the parked percentage on the weekend at 25%. AB went on to score -24 and placed T4, continuing to place in the top four so far this season!
Due to a lightning delay, the MPO field only completed 15 holes in the final round before dark, skipping holes 12, 15, and 16. Those holes were marked as par for all MPO competitors on Sunday.
